Sensational victory in Class ORC 2 of the Hane 400 "Asia de Cuba" in the "Silver Ribbon" long-distance race of Kiel Week. During the 120 nautical mile night race actually the first place over all against 35 competitors was possible. In the end, only a TP 51 racer with Olympic gold medalist Jochen Schuemann in corrected time was a bit faster!

The "Asia De Cuba" from the HANSE town of Greifswald, managed with the victory the sensation of the Kiel Week, one of the biggest sailing events in the world. 36 yachts had made the course around the Danish island of Langeland. The night race was a real challenge for the material and the crew.

The Hanse 400 sailed with Skipper Matthew Huhn from Rostock, helmsman Tom Bollmann from Ahlbeck, Jörg Krohn, Pit-Peter Schulz and Jörn Kobrow at the bow (all of Greifswald). Navigation and tactics made by Charles Hauss and trimmer Noel Felix trim (both from Düsseldorf).

The Asia-crew started in bright sunshine and moderate winds perfectly into the race and was leading the fleet. Even a damaged outhaul in stronger winds could not stop the crew and they sailed into the night and then as a second boat in the ORC class 2 around the turning mark.

Light winds and downwind courses were difficult and the competition closed the gap. But the Hanse-team came back in freshening winds at the top of the field and crossed after 17 hours and 48 minutes as the first boat in the class the finish line at Kiel Lighthouse.

In the overall ranking of all classes on corrected time the "Asia De Cuba" was

second behind the TP 52 Audi "All for one" with the superstar Jochen Schümann and his professional team.

Smiling faces and boundless joy at the award ceremony on the big stage of Kiel Schilksee of the crew. Team manager Jörg Krohn pushed the cup in the evening sky. "The feeling is indescribably and wonderful, what a brilliant race, "summed up the winning team.

On the last day of Kiel Week "Asia De Cuba" sailed an excellent 5th place in the

prestigious Senate Prize Regatta.
